A property in Macclesfield, which was reported to be involved in anti-social behaviour, has been shut down by officers.
A closure order for an address on Maplewood Avenue was granted at Chester Magistrates’ court on Wednesday 13 December for a three-month period.
This comes after officers from the Macclesfield Beat Management Team provided evidence of a sustained period of associated anti-social behaviour (ASB).
The order, which will run for three months, will see the occupants of the address, a 38-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman, leave the address and find alternative accommodation.
All windows and doors will now be boarded up and anyone who enters the address during this time is committing a criminal offence and can be arrested.
Sergeant Matthew Bassirat said:
“The closure was obtained with the assistance of the local community as we know this property was causing ASB issues, impacting negatively on nearby residents’ quality of life.
“I would encourage anyone who has concerns about ASB-related issues to please report it to us and we will do everything we can to tackle it and find a solution.
“I hope this closure will serve as a warning to any Macclesfield residents who choose to behave in this way can lose their homes as a consequence of their actions.
“We take all reports of ASB extremely seriously and will investigate these matters appropriately.”
Anyone with concerns about ASB in their area is asked to report it to Cheshire Police via:
