To mark Occupational Therapy Week (3rd to 9th November), Cheshire East Council will be celebrating the life-changing work of its Occupational Therapy team with a special public event at Macclesfield Town Hall.
Occupational therapy helps people of all ages overcome physical, mental, or emotional challenges to live more independent and fulfilling lives.
Residents are being encouraged to come along on Monday 3rd November, from 10am to 12 noon in the Silk Room for the Cheshire East OT Roadshow for a welcoming drop-in session where residents can meet their local occupational therapists, ask questions, and discover how OT can support people to live more independently, safely and confidently.
Free refreshments and cakes will be available, and everyone is welcome!
This year’s OT Week theme is, Right Support, Right Time – Unlocking the Power of OT and highlights how occupational therapy plays a vital role in tackling today’s health, education and social care challenges. By focusing on early intervention and prevention, occupational therapists help ease pressure on services and improve outcomes for individuals and families.
Councillor Jill Rhodes, Cheshire east Council’s adults and health committee chair, said:
“Occupational therapy is about enabling people to live life to the fullest – whether that’s recovering from illness, adapting to disability, or simply staying safe and independent at home.
“Our Cheshire East OT team make a real difference every day, and this event is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about their work and how they can support you or your loved ones.”
The roadshow will showcase real-life stories, offer practical advice, and resources to help residents understand the power of OT – especially when the right support is provided at the right time.
Whether you're a carer, a resident, or simply curious about how occupational therapy can help, come along and discover how Cheshire East’s OT team is building a healthier, more sustainable future for our communities across the borough.
