A teenager has been sentenced after admitting to wounding another teenaged boy with intent.
Benjamin Porter, of Meadow Grove in Northwich, had earlier pleaded guilty to attempt wounding with intent, possession of a knife and child abduction.
The 19-year-old appeared at Chester Crown Court on Monday 27th October where he was sentenced to three years and 10 months in prison.
The court heard how police were called at around 5.30pm on Saturday 7th December 2024 following reports that a 15-year-old boy had been stabbed in the stomach following an altercation on Woodpecker Drive, Northwich.
Following enquiries, officers identified Porter as the suspect, and he was arrested later that day.
Whilst on bail for the stabbing, Porter was also arrested for breaching a Child Abduction Warning Notice in connection with an unrelated matter.
Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Connor McGregor said:
“Porter’s actions were totally unacceptable, and the sentence handed to him is reflective of his actions that day.
“Teenagers inflicting serious injuries with dangerous weapons is not something we’re used to hearing about in Northwich and this level of violence has shocked the community.
“Thankfully, while the injury was serious, it was not life threatening and the victim has made a good recovery.
“I hope the conclusion of this case will reassure the local community, as well as anyone who may have witnessed this traumatic event unfold.”
