Congleton Pub Watch is looking to make the communications between the town’s pubs even smarter as the pubs continue to work together to make Congleton a great place to go out in the evenings.
Congleton Pub Watch is supported by the Congleton Police, Congleton Town Council and Cheshire East licensing team. Licence holders from 23 of the town’s pubs meet once a month to address any issues and to decide what action to take over any reported incidents. The group follows the guidance of National Pub Watch and can take actions ranging from a warning letter issued by the Police on behalf of the group, to a ban from all the pubs in the Pub Watch group.
Jack who has taken over as Chair explained: “Congleton Pub Watch has been running for many years and I am honoured that fellow licence holders have voted me as Chair. This is not about me though, Pub Watch is a collective with all the venues having an equal say. Congleton has a fantastic varied and growing evening scene and it is great that so many pubs work together. Pub Watch wants to see all the pubs and clubs flourish and having a safe environment where people can enjoy themselves is essential to that prosperity. That is why the group will take action against people caught with drugs, or people being physically or verbally abusive to customers or staff. We don’t need that in Congleton.”
“I would like to thank the previous chair for the great work that he did for the group, especially keeping the communications going through the COVID years which have been extremely difficult for the hospitality businesses. I look forward to continuing to improve the communications for the group and hope for many meetings where we can concentrate on positive promotions for Congleton rather than dealing with incidents!”
