Police in Crewe have secured a partial closure order to protect a vulnerable resident whose address was frequently associated with drug use and anti social behaviour.
Officers in Crewe were granted a partial closure order for an address in the town by Warrington Magistrates' Court on Thursday 19 December.
The successful securing of the order comes after officers presented the court with substantial evidence that the occupant of the address was being exploited by individuals for the use of drugs, with police frequently being called to respond to incidents of anti social behaviour.
As a direct result, the property on Davenport Avenue is now the subject of a partial closure orders. This means that the address cannot be entered by anyone other than the occupant for the next three months - safeguarding the residents from any risk of criminal activity being conducted at their homes.
This, in turn, means that anyone who does decide to enter the property will be committing a criminal offence and could be arrested.
Police Constable Justin Taylor, of Crewe Local Policing Unit, said:
"No one should feel unsafe in their own homes and we have taken proactive steps to safeguard this resident and, thanks to the issuing of this partial closure order, they will be able to breathe a welcomed sigh of relief.
“Our Beat Team are committed to doing everything possible to take action against those intent on causing misery and harm to residents and this is just a small snapshot of some of the work we do 365 days a year to keep the public safe.
“I would urge anyone who has concerns about drug dealing or anti-social behaviour in their community to please report it to us and we will do the rest.”
Anyone with concerns about anti-social behaviour or drug dealing in their area is asked to report it to Cheshire Police via:
