MP Supports Call To Complete Census 2021

Macclesfield’s MP, David Rutley, is actively encouraging local residents to complete their Census 2021 forms on Sunday 21st March. It is a vital step in helping to better understand the services we all need in our local communities and it is also a legal requirement.

David is adding his support to calls for the Census to be completed, because he knows how important the information residents provide is in helping to inform decisions on planning and allocating funds for services in our area. This includes what healthcare services may be needed, how many school places are required and what transport improvements may be necessary.

The survey will provide important information for future decisions made by Parliament, including new data that could help improve our understanding of the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic. Charities and voluntary organisations also often use the survey as evidence to help with funding requests.

All householders should complete the survey on Census Day, Sunday 21^st March, or as soon as possible after. The survey will ask questions about each household to build a detailed picture of our society. Households should receive a letter in the post, which will explain how to take part. The census is a survey of the entire population, which is carried out every 10 years and run by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) in England and Wales. The information provided is kept safe and confidential.

Speaking ahead of Census Day, David said, “It’s vital that everyone completes Census 2021, so that we can better plan and fund the local services we need. It’s quick and simple to fill in, taking around 10 minutes per person to complete. The results will help paint a clearer picture of our country and communities, and shape a better future for the years ahead – we all need to take part.”
