Police have charged a man with attempted murder following an incident at an address in Congleton.
The charges relate to a man breaking into a house in Dale Crescent on the afternoon of Monday 12th May and threatening a man and woman in the address. The man was also assaulted with an axe.
Stuart Whittaker, 48, of no fixed address was arrested at the scene and later charged with attempted murder, burglary, attempt section 18 assault, breach of a restraining order and possession of an offensive weapon.
Whittaker was remanded in custody to appear at Warrington Combined Court on Wednesday 14th May.
