Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire, John Dwyer, has thanked residents for their response to his recent survey on refreshing the county’s Police and Crime Plan.
Over 1,200 people had their say on the Commissioner’s proposed refresh of the Plan which sets out the priorities on which the Constabulary should deliver for the public. The six key priorities in the Plan are:
- Prevent and tackle crime
- Make Cheshire’s roads safer
- Deliver justice for victims of crime
- Protect vulnerable and at-risk people
- Improve public confidence in policing
- Modernise our police service
Police and Crime Commissioner John Dwyer said:
“I want to thank everyone who took the time to engage with my survey. I promised to refresh the Police and Crime Plan to ensure it remains relevant to people’s policing priorities and that’s exactly what I’m doing here.
“This draft refresh of the Plan is based on feedback people have given me over my time in office so far. I launched my recent survey because I was keen to ensure the public know what progress has been made since the first Plan was published and that they could have their say on how we move forward.
Residents were asked for their views on key issues in the Plan and any areas of policing and crime which they felt needed a particular focus in the years to come.
The Commissioner will review the feedback and comments received through his survey and produce a further draft of the refreshed Police and Crime Plan, which will be discussed at the next meeting of the Cheshire Police and Crime Panel. Following this, the final Plan will be published.
John Dwyer added:
“This Plan sets the strategic direction for the Constabulary and so it is the basis for delivering the effective and efficient police service that the public expects.
“I’m determined that it remains an accurate reflection of the public’s policing needs, so I look forward to presenting a further draft of this Plan to the Police and Crime Panel and hearing their feedback on the public’s priorities.
“In the meantime, along with Chief Constable Mark Roberts and the Constabulary, I will continue to work to make Cheshire an even safer place to live, work and visit.”
