Detectives investigating a sudden death in Macclesfield have arrested a man on suspicion of murder.
At around 6.48pm on Friday 18th July, police were called to concerns for the welfare of a woman at an address in Pearson Street, Macclesfield.
Officers and paramedics attended, and a 72-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Home Office Post Mortem concluded cause of death was from multiple injuries to the head and neck.
A 49-year-old man has been arrested and remains in custody at this time.
DI Eli Atkinson said:
“I’d like to reassure residents that this is an isolated incident, and we have made an arrest.
“Enquiries are continuing with searches likely to be taking place in the area, so there will be an increased police presence.”
