Congleton town centre was bursting with colour and laughter, on 8th April, as families turned out in droves to enjoy Easter Treats Day.
Organised by Congleton Town Council, the event brought together the community for a joyful day of free family fun—and it didn’t disappoint.
A highlight of the town council’s events calendar, the day offered a jam-packed programme of activities, and even a chance to meet the animals from Halton Farm. Nature lovers got stuck into seed planting with Congleton In Bloom, while the appearance of Billy the giant rabbit hopping around town delighted children and grown-ups alike. Adding to the success of the day was the beautifully sunny weather, which encouraged even more families to come out and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
Congleton Town Mayor, Cllr Kay Wesley, praised the event and those who made it possible:
“I’d like to say a big thank you to Congleton Town Council, our amazing volunteers, and everyone who helped make today’s Easter Treats event such a fantastic success. The town centre was full of happy children enjoying crafts, circus fun, face painting, and learning about nature. It was lovely to see so many families out together making the most of the Easter holidays. With the town so busy, I’m sure our shops and cafés were just as pleased! And of course, the beautiful sunshine really helped make the day even more special.
Among the stars of the show was Midnight the cow, who charmed children and adults alike. Her handler Tommy told me that: “She really enjoys trips out and meeting children,” making her a perfect addition to the day.”
Adding to the Easter excitement, the ‘Hop Around the Shops’ trail runs until 19th April.
Families are invited to explore local shops, solve clues, and claim a free treat at the end! Kindly donated by Tesco, Barn Road and Morrisons.
