Congleton Town Councillors gave passionate and compelling arguments in favour of ensuring a long-term household waste and recycling centre at the public speaking time at Cheshire East Council’s Environment and Regeneration Scrutiny Committee, held this morning (Monday 15 March).
Congleton Town Council, which is unanimous in its support of a Congleton site, was pleased that Cheshire East councillors voted in favour of setting up a Task and Finish Group to look at all available options in respect of a Household Waste Recycling Site for Congleton.
Although the existing site may close in September 2021, the option of a permanent provision for a recycling site is not to be taken away while the matter is being considered by the Task and Finish Group.
Congleton Town Council is united in its determination to work with Cheshire East Council to ensure Congleton residents have access to this essential and vital service.
The future of the Congleton Household Waste Site will be discussed at Cheshire East Cabinet meeting on 13 April.
