Following the success of last year’s Climate Festival and Green Fayre, Congleton Town Council and Congleton Partnership have organised another Green Week running from 20-28 September 2022
The week will include a Green Fayre on Saturday 24 September from 10am – 4pm. More than 30 stalls housing a wide range of groups, organisations and companies will be found on Congleton’s closed High Street. All stalls will have information, products or services which will help residents to live more sustainably in Congleton. A collection of electric bikes and cars will be on display and the Makers Market will be held at the same time in the pedestrian area.
Congleton Town Mayor, Cllr Margaret Gartside said: “We are delighted to have the Congleton Repair Café taking part. As a one off for the Green Fayre, the workshop will move from its home at the Old Saw Mill to the Town Hall. The repairers are looking forward to their biggest event yet! Another sustainable initiative on board is the Cheshire Kids Clothes Shop – chose pre-loved clothing to help the environment and your purse! You can have up to 20 swops. Both these worthwhile causes will be located in the Town Hall.”
In the week leading up to the Green Fayre there will be a programme of talks, walks, demonstrations and open days providing lots of practical advice for residents. The events are free but some will require advance online booking.
The Town Mayor concludes: “We look forward to seeing you at the Fayre and some of the events. Please take some time over the Green Week to explore the issues further and see how you can help be part of the solution to climate change. Many people are keen to speak with you, share experiences and discuss ways forward.”
Road closures will be in place on Congleton High Street from 7am-6pm. Motorists should allow extra time for their journey.
