Knutsford’s The Tea Room held its first Bake-Off competition to raise money for Hope Central on Monday 19th December.
The festive evening saw entries from the following age categories - under 11, under 18 and over 18 with a small prize for one winning entry from each category. The judges were Harriet Henry (co-owner of The Tea Room), Cllr and former Mayor Stewart Gardiner, Mayor’s cadet Jamie Duncan and Knutsford Bake Club member Dee Griffith.
Harriet said, “We know how busy the festive season can get, so a huge thanks to everyone for taking the time to enter. After tasting all the bakes Knutsford is definitely home to some amazing bakers! It was extremely hard, although an extremely enjoyable process, deciding the winners. The Tea Room has competition!”
The winning entries were as follows:
Abigail and Charlotte Parker (under 11) – Apple Pie
Tracey Bryant (under 18) – Lemon Drizzle Cake
David Tracz – (over 18) Cheesecake
Each were presented with a commemorative ‘star baker’ wooden spoon and a Great British Bake-Off Recipe Book. Lesley Speakman also received a commemorative certificate for her towering toffee cake.
All the bakes are to be sold in aid of Hope Central who are based at The Welcome in Longridge and provide a food bank, money management courses, a job club and support for people in need. Ian Robertson from Hope Central was in attendance on the evening.
