APPRENTICESHIPS AT REASEHEATH COLLEGE

Reaseheath College is set to benefit from £132,854 to support degree apprenticeships.

Backed by the Government, the Office for Students has announced that 32 Higher Education providers nationwide are set to benefit from the second wave of its Degree Apprenticeship Development Fund, totalling £14 million. 

This will support 151 Level 6 degree apprenticeship programmes, increasing the number of students on Level 6 degree apprenticeships and the quality of opportunity for students into and during Level 6 degree apprenticeships. 

Backed by Government funding, the Office for Students launched the £40 million Degree Apprenticeship Development Fund in September 2023 to expand and diversify degree apprenticeships. 

The first wave of funding, totalling £12 million, was announced in January 2024. It supported 51 colleges and universities nationwide to increase apprenticeship starts and improve the diversity of their degree apprentice recruits. 

This builds on the Government’s strong track record of fostering a world-class apprenticeship system, with over 5.7 million people starting an apprenticeship since 2010.

“It is brilliant news that Eddisbury’s Reaseheath College is set to benefit from £132,854 to support even more young people in accessing degree apprenticeships—helping them gain the skills they need to succeed and realise their full potential. 

“The Government’s plan is working, and we must stick to it to ensure every young person has the opportunity to succeed and secure a brighter future for themselves, their families, and our country.”

Minister for Skills, Apprenticeships and Higher Education, the Rt Hon Robert Halfon MP, added: 

“ ‘Degree’ and ‘apprenticeship’ are my favourite words in the English language, and they play a vital role in extending the ladder of opportunity—opening up higher education and offering a chance for people from a broader range of backgrounds to gain the skills employers need.

“In this second wave of funding, institutions benefiting from a share of this £40 million will be able to expand their degree apprenticeship opportunities—as well as prioritising access and participation for young people, individuals from underrepresented groups, and those least likely to access and succeed in Higher Education. 

“From supporting our NHS with degree apprenticeships in health, to developing partnerships with leading employers to upskill the local workforce and recruit new talent—these projects will facilitate upward mobility, bridge skills gaps, and fuel economic growth.”
